He says he wants to be with me forever and that he loves me- I mean, could see us being like that but does he really mean it or is he just saying what he thinks I want to hear? And when I said it, I would have meant it… The thing is, as I had more relationships —more falling in love and then eventually the break-up, more ups, more downs, more experience — my perspective changed and the way I was in relationships changed too… for the better. Sure, people get jaded by breakups, sometimes for a month, sometimes for several months or longer , but the ups and the downs of relationships are both really good things. Ask A Guy: Does My Boyfriend Really Mean What He Says?
A lot of women come with bad friends, a lot of women come with a job they don’t like, but there’s nothing more difficult for the male ego to deal with than a woman who comes with her ex as a best friend. For some reason or another, a lot of men can’t fathom that another man was sexually intimate with their woman. And it’s funny, too, because women are very aware of this. Our relationship didn’t work out sexually at all, but we’re still such really good friends.
0; We all have that friend in our lives who has trouble balancing their role as a boyfriend/ girlfriend and as a best friend. When they’re single, they were your right-hand man, going to the bars with you and practically living at your apartment.
Emily was going on about some bitch from school and how she was going to kick her ass, and shit like that. I kissed him on the stoop of your house while your birthday party was blazing in the backyard. He must have reeked of my scent when he walked in your bedroom door. I took pleasure in knowing that. It all started at the exact moment you think it did: Remember the way he made me laugh that night, how that made you feel? Your instincts were right. For weeks, I kept it a secret. But one night, after too many tequila shots, I finally confessed the affair to my friend May.
She hates me now. Most of my married friends who are women had the same indignant take. Funny, my married friends who are men were all for it. I do believe that I owe it to myself to fall in love and stay in love for as long as is humanly possible. I wish someone else, in some other circumstances, had said it, but I actually agree with what Woody Allen said to justify schtupping his step-daughter.

Not only did my best friend disappear, but I thought her boyfriend didn’t like me. Outwardly I was happy for her, but inwardly I was miserable.” If your best friend is dating, and you’re not, is jealousy an issue?
Share via Email Photograph: Franck Allais for the Guardian I split up with my ex a year ago and quickly started dating. I met someone nice, but within weeks I discovered that my ex and my best friend had started a relationship. When I found out, I felt a rage I had never experienced. Honesty and trust are the foundations of friendship and she has effectively trashed both. The chances of maintaining a friendship with her is unlikely, particularly if she is still dating your ex. However, the forgiveness part is work that you must tackle, for your benefit. The more you do it, the better you get and the stronger you become. Try to take a few quiet moments from your day to reflect on the act of forgiveness, in all its forms.
Think of people you would like to forgive your ex and your friend , as well as those you might have hurt and who would like to forgive you. Maybe a girl you were unkind to in school, or someone you were dishonest with. Maybe you are the person you need to forgive.

I understand that he has love and respect for her as a person and that I should be respectful of his past and their relationship.
However, their current relationship upsets me. In the beginning of our relationship he spoke with her almost every day by phone she lives three hours away. I guess I should mention that they were together for five years and had only been broken up for a few months before we started dating. I know…it seems bad. But it happened really fast. We sent a couple messages back and forth over break, then out of the blue, she called me and asked for my thoughts on us being exclusive. From that point on, everything changed.
I began getting wrapped up in my own fears, worries and what it meant about me. If I had looked at the relationship itself clearly, I would have seen that it was a mediocre relationship that had some good moments at the beginning, but there was no future.
